"As you rise with the morning sun, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive, - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love." - Marcus Aurelius
I AM GRATEFUL
It is so easy to wake up in the morning and immediately grab your cell phone to look through the events, posts, thoughts of others that happened while you slept. When we finally find rest at night, it is like the world stands still to let us recharge our batteries, when instead the world keeps going - people continue to live their own lives on their own time. To be consumed with the happenings of others is made so easy through the many social media platforms we engage in. I challenge you, and myself, to instead keep your eyes closed in the morning when you wake. Think about the rise and fall of your breath, the sensations of becoming aware and in the moment, and find 5 things you are grateful for. It doesn't have to be a long drawn out list, but just 5 simple things that bring gratitude into your heart. Maybe you write them down afterwards, something to come back to on those days that feel like to much, or maybe you just hold on to them in your heart. Taking pause before we tackle the long list of each day will allow you to do so more mindfully, more in the now, and let you truly experience the present moment, the only place where life exists.
