Monday Mantra - June 3rd

"I am comfortable being in my power.”

Happy Monday Yogis! Can you believe its already June? With the heat getting warmer, I thought for this week we could match the external heat by generating some internal heat, right in our core, Our solar plexus chakra is the center of our power, our ego, our heat and drive in life. When we discuss ego, many times we associate it with negative ego, the super-ego. What we are mentioning today is the ego that allows us to power through and take up space.

On your mats this week, really begin to use the core. Find some twist, do the core strengtheners you usually skip, really generate the heat in your core to let that power build. Do strong poses, challenge yourself and find poses that allow you to really express yourself. Don’t be afraid and don’t hide from your strength. Incorporate pranayama to realize the excess heat, sighing out the energy and allowing it to leave your internal self and become an external force.

Off your mat, I invite you to start your day with some chamomile tea. Chamomile is great for unblocking powerless feelings in this chakra and settling the stomach. Make this a morning ritual! Every morning, whatever beverage I start my day with, I do it with intention. I take my finger and make 3 circles clockwise on the rim of the cup and say “You are the tool, I am the fire, fill this cup with all I desire.” Do this with your cup of tea before drinking it and watch how as the days this week pass, your power strengthens.

-Namaste, Michi P.
